Meet Recap

The Chargers would start their league competition against the West Covina Bulldogs on Tuesday night. Starting off the evening Junior Varsity Boys, would win a close contest 24 – 18, to get the Chargers going. Competition started at 113 lbs. the Chargers came out quickly with a fall by Jacob Sanchez at 120 lbs. However, the Bulldogs would immediately answer back with a fall over 126 lbs. Sergio Adame, in an attempt to swing the momentum their way. The Chargers looked strong at 152 & 160 lbs, but the Bulldogs would rally back at the 170 lbs class with a fall over Gabriel Cortes to bring the score to 18 – 36. Javier Garcia would wrestle his first match of the season at 182 lbs. and earn the fall for the Chargers and increasing their lead to 18 – 42. However, the Bulldogs still had fight left in them, at 195 lbs. West Covina wrestled hard against Charter Oaks Brian Blackburn, putting six on the board for the Bulldogs. The match hung in the balance as Brandon Rosales took the mat at 220 lbs. Rosales was able to score of a couple of beautiful cross-body ankle picks, putting his opponent to his back in the second period and securing the fall. The Chargers would drop both the HWT and 106 lbs weight class matches to West Covina, but had already secured their victory with the win from Rosales at 220 lbs. The Chargers will face the always ready Chino Cowboys on Thursday, 1/12/17 away @ Chino.
